Report a Hazard

Reporting a Hazard can help the entire community

Although we are lucky to enjoy some excellent cycling facilities they need regular upkeep to ensure they stay that way. Certain paths or lane hazards such as potholes, crumbling sides and surface sand can appear overnight after heavy rain or strong winds.

Other hazards such as bumps or cracks in a path surface occur over a longer period of time, often through encroachment of tree roots. These also need to be reported and dealt with as soon as they become noticeable.

Community feedback is vital if the relevant authority is to keep the roads and cycle facilities well maintained. Please use the link above to report a problem on the highway, or ring the Bedfordshire Highways Helpline on 0300 300 8049. Issues that should be reported are:

  • potholes
  • overhanging branches or encroaching vegetation causing a hazard or obscuring signs
  • bicycle sensors at a set of traffic lights that are not working
  • badly positioned drainage grate or grab rail
  • broken glass
  • damaged cycle hoops
  • broken, defaced, missing or misaligned signs
