1. Leighton’s Community Cycling Club: Launch Event ‘Pedal Off’ on 20th March, Cedars School
A fabulous day of cycling has been organised by BuzzCycles and the GoCycle Team to launch the town’s own Community Cycling Club. A host of events will be taking place at Cedars School on Saturday 20th March from 09.30 onwards. Programme features:
• Go Ride taster sessions for all ages – take a skills test and sample the exciting sessions local Go Ride coach Barry Gilzean is running in schools
• Family rides around the scenic Tiddenfoot Waterside Park
• A 30mile ‘endurance ride’ for the serious cyclist, leaving at 10am sharp (registration from 9.30 onwards)
• Dr Bike – get your cycle checked by an expert mechanic
• Bike maintenance clinics
• Northshore experience – test GoCycle elevated wooden cycle track
• Watt Bikes – race your friends, or your speed over a kilometers against Nicole Cooke or Bradley Wiggins on our state of the art spin bikes
• Treasure Hunt – follow all the clues to discover cycling treasure
• Bike Jumble – bike bits to buy or trade
• Information point and much more!

There is no need to pre-register to take part in activities other than the endurance ride, which leaves at 10am and will take around 2 hours. You are welcome to turn up anytime between 9.30 am and 3pm. There is no charge for any of the activities. Children under 9 should be accompanied by an adult.

2. Go Ride open coaching sessions on Saturday mornings for young people aged 9 upwards
The BuzzCycles Community Cycling Club is offering Go Ride coaching sessions for young people every Saturday morning at Mentmore Park, Linslade starting on 10 April 2010 (meet at the pavilion). The sessions start at 10am and run for up to 2 hours. They will be led by the British Cycling Go Ride Coach Barry Gilzean. The sessions cost £2 for members and £3 for non-members. Bikes and helmets may be provided on arrangement. Demand will be high so advanced booking is recommended – contact BarryGilzean@britishcycling.org.uk.
As the club becomes established there will be additional sessions specifically designed for younger children plus training rides for adults.
3. Thursday night is BuzzCycles Community Cycling Club night
From 15 April 2010 onwards the BuzzCycles Community Cycling Club will be meeting each Thursday evening at Mentmore Park pavilion between 6.30 and 8.30 pm. Club meetings will be open to anyone interested in cycling and its various disciplines including mountain biking, BMX, Cyclocross, touring, road racing, endurance riding and more. The first club meeting on 15th April will be a welcome night and refreshments will be available.
As the club night becomes established the plan is to introduce a weekly programme of Go Ride coached sessions, training rides and even some racing!

4. GoCycle Easter Holidays Courses
GoCycle are offering a choice of free courses during the Easter Holiday:
When booking a course you may be asked to pay a deposit of £5.00 which will be refunded upon the completion of the course.
Go Ride Skills – Introduction (9-13 year olds)
These Go Ride introductory courses are based at Mentmore Park Recreation Ground, Linslade and involve sessions running on three consecutive days. To obtain a certificate of completion, trainees will need to attend all three sessions.

5. Adult Cycle Training – now free for groups and individuals – all levels
The GoCycle Project can arrange free adult Bikeability Cycling training from beginner through to advanced rider levels. We can run courses for individuals and groups and can be flexible around times and routes.
We are yet to meet anyone who has not enjoyed or benefited from these courses. They can be revelatory – which is why we urge you to give them a go.

6. Dr Bike at the Market – Tuesday 13th April
GoCycle’s Dr Bike will have a stall by the Market Cross in the Town Centre on Tuesday 13th April. He will be offering a free bike checks and advice on how to maintain your bike. No need to book, just bring your bike along. You can also pick up a free GoCycle cycle maps from the stall.
7. Wheelie Wednesday – 14th April 2010, 12.30pm
Our next Wheelie Wednesday lunchtime cycle ride takes place on Wednesday 14th April. Meet at the Market Cross at 12.30 for a guided cycle excursion lasting approximately one hour.
8. Get Back Into … Cycling
The Get Back Into programme (http://www.getbackinto.co.uk) is for anyone who is 16 or older and wants to take up a more active lifestyle again, with other people like themselves. Sessions are relaxed and fun, led by experienced coaches and instructors, and are a gentle introduction back into the activity. Team BEDS&LUTON have run over 100 different Get Back Into sessions to date, and have seen nearly 3,000 people start playing sport or being more physically active again!
The Get Back Into … Cycling programme is a great way to rediscover the fun of riding a bike and is ideal for anyone current lacking confidence and who enjoy participating in activities with a friendly and supportive group.
The sessions start at 9.30 and run for two hours over 10 consecutive weeks starting on Wednesday 28 April. Each session starts from Tiddenfoot leisure Centre

9. Sunday afternoon Bike Rides
Why not join a group of non-serious cyclists for a Sunday afternoon bike ride. You can join others for pre-ride refreshment at the Golden Bell Pub in Church Square from 1.30 onwards or arrive in time for the 2pm start. No one is left behind on these short and varied rides around Leighton Buzzard and Linslade. The group decides a route to suit everyone turning up on the day. All abilities are welcome.
