Bike Club

What is Bike Club?

Bike Club is an inspirational new cycling project for youth clubs, schools and other community groups. We’re excited about offering Bike Club activities for children and young people, particularly in situations where those aged 10-20 may not have tried much cycling before.

Bike Club aims to:
•    encourage children and young people aged 10-20 to use cycling as a means of transport so they can take part in more activities beyond the school day.
•    make cycling an important part of young people’s lives in whichever way they choose – as recreation, sport, exercise, a ‘green’ form of transport – and just for fun!
•    help children and young people to discover the freedom that cycling brings
•    help parents and guardians feel more confident about letting their children use bikes as a means of transport

The beauty of the Bike Club project is that each activity could be completely different. In some places, we provide training and accreditation for young people and leaders, and in others we may assist with providing equipment or facilities for Bike Club activities to be successful.

Bike Club could potentially be in the form of any of these activities and more:

Cycling Festivals
Off-Road skills sessions
Creative Projects (art, music, film or dance)
Cycle Maintenance
Family Friendly Rides
BMX track activities
The opportunities are endless ………

Meet your local Bike Club Development Officer

Tejesh Mistry
(Leighton Linslade and Aylesbury)

I enjoy making the most of the great outdoors with a variety of sports from cycling to football and even running occasionally. I really enjoy working with young people and have taken part in a wide range of voluntary projects in the UK and Internationally. I believe strongly in community work and have been lucky enough to experience projects taking place all over the world. It’s great to join the Bike Club team and I can’t wait to work with you to bring more cycling opportunities to Leighton Linslade, Aylesbury and the surrounding areas.

Bike Club hopes to work in partnership with a range of organisations including: cycling clubs, youth clubs, community groups, sports clubs, extended schools and more.

I’m keen to hear from all members of the community interested in creating exciting opportunities for young people across the region. So please get in touch if you:

• Have ideas for new Bike Club activities
• Need training or financial support for a Bike Club
• Are interested in volunteering with Bike Club

Who is behind Bike Club?

Bike Club has been set up by a team of three charities who all believe cycling is a great way for children and young people to explore, learn and keep healthy.

ContinYou are experts in community learning

UK Youth is the largest non-uniformed national voluntary youth organisation in the UK

The project is receiving funding from Cycling England and from Asda, through their Pedal Power campaign.
